How do I check if my med spa shows up in AI search?

Ask the AI assistants the way a patient would: open ChatGPT, Google (for the AI Overview), and Perplexity and type "how much does Botox cost in <your city>" and "best med spa in <your city>." See whether your clinic is named. Check each engine separately — they pull from different sources, so you can appear in one and be missing from another — and check more than once, since answers are personalized and shift.

Use the queries a real patient would. Start with the commercial ones closest to booking — "how much does Botox cost in <your city>," "<treatment> cost <your city>," and "best med spa in <your city>" — plus any signature treatment you want to be known for. Type them as questions, not keywords; that's how patients actually talk to an assistant.

Check each engine on its own, because they don't share sources. ChatGPT and Perplexity lean heavily on Bing and on places like Reddit and recent pages; Google's AI Overview and Gemini lean on Google's own index and Business Profiles. It's common to be named in one and absent from another, so a single check on one engine isn't the full picture.

Look at three things in each answer: Are you named at all? Which clinics ARE named — usually your direct competitors? And is a specific price quoted? If the AI names a competitor with a per-unit Botox price and doesn't mention you, that's the exact gap that costs you the patient — they've been shortlisted before they ever click.

Two honest caveats: results are personalized and change week to week, so check from a logged-out window and run it a few times rather than trusting one result. If you'd rather not do it by hand, a free Renownly scan runs the key queries across the engines and shows where you stand and who's named instead.
