How does a dental or orthodontic practice get recommended by ChatGPT?

ChatGPT names the practices it can confirm from several sources: the treatments they offer, the dentists and their credentials, insurance and new-patient details, and the area they serve, stated on their own site and matched by the listings and city "best dentist" lists it reads. Strong reviews help, but they don't decide the answer.

In our 2026 study across 14 Dallas–Fort Worth cities, 41% of dentists and 37% of orthodontists with 4.6+ stars and 60+ reviews were not named by ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode. In one city, a practice with more than 3,500 reviews was left out while one with 196 was named.

Dental answers lean on city lists and provider directories. Give each dentist a page with their degree and training, give each main treatment its own page (implants, Invisalign, emergency visits), and keep the practice's name, address and phone identical everywhere it's listed.

Then check where ChatGPT gets its answer for your city. If it cites a "best dentists" list you're not on, getting onto that list is one of the most direct fixes available.
