ChatGPT recommends vet clinics whose details it can confirm: the animals and services they cover, hours and emergency availability, accreditations such as AAHA, and the neighborhoods they serve, stated on their own site and matched on Bing Places, Yelp and the directories it reads. A high rating alone isn't enough to be named.
In our 2026 study across 14 Dallas–Fort Worth cities, 38% of veterinarians with 4.6+ stars and 60+ reviews were not named by ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode for "best veterinarian in [city]". In one city, a clinic with more than 1,100 reviews was left out while one with 26 was named.
AI answers for vets tend to list more clinics than other industries (about 10 per search in our study), so the opening is wider, but clinics with thin websites or mismatched listings still get skipped.
Make the basics easy to read: a page for each core service (wellness exams, dental, surgery, urgent care), the species you treat, your hours, and any accreditation or Fear Free certification. Keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere, then check the answer again.
